lucy naland design

I’m Lucy, a senior graphic design student at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. This past summer I was a design intern at Sports Illustrated, where I worked on print and digital projects. Graphic Design USA recently named me a 2019 Student to Watch.

Last summer I was the editorial design intern at The Boston Globe, where I designed and art directed for the newspaper and magazine. I also worked for The Daily Orange, Syracuse's independent student newspaper, for the first three years of college. I spent one of those years as Presentation Director, where I managed the paper's design, photo and illustration staffs. My editorial experience at SU also included designing for both Baked Magazine and The Kumquat. While my experience began with print, though, I've since developed interests in digital and motion design.

When I’m not designing for a publication or working on school projects, I enjoy spending all my money on dessert, illustrating and traveling whenever I can. If you'd like to chat about design, my work experience or why The Twilight Saga is the greatest film series of all time, contact me at
